The Main BMX Bikes Types and Their Specific Usage

Flybikes

The BMX is the most exhilarating and dangerous cycling sport, because of its need for constant balance and flexibility in both racing and freestyling. And due to the difference between racing and freestyling many BMX bikes have been developed to suit different roles and driving styles. But they all still maintain that base BMX concept of said lightweight flexibility and balance.

And before choosing your bike there are a few things to consider first when getting into the sport.
Such as whether you want to race or do tricks in a skate park, your height is also something that factors into the type of bike you may want to use. And there are many types to accommodate the different styles and heights of riders.

The first of which is the plain but sturdy BMX this type is made for racing on a BMX track which is made of dirt slope. The races are usually sprint races where racers have to get from one end to the other end before the other racers, this sport has also been accepted into the Olympics.

Now for the second type has a few names but they are all essentially referring to the same bike. That is the street, dirt-jump or park bike, this bike is sturdy and versatile to facilitate rough riding and crashes. It is usually used for freestyling, and the flybikes are considered to be very good choice for freestyle BMX.

The third of the BMX types is the flatland which is as the name suggests made for performing tricks on flat areas. There are a few subtypes but the flybikes are by far the most suited for this type of BMX freestyling.

The fourth and final BMX type is the cruiser, this bike is a race bike with a light nimble frame which can accommodate larger wheels making it the more forgiving bike and the preferred choice for larger riders. And while it does count as a BMX it has its own separate category because of its larger frame and wheels.

Additionally, every bike type comes in four distinct sizes, these being mini or micro which is for children between 4 to 6 years. Junior which is for kids between the ages of 6 and 9. Expert which is made for 9 year-olds and young teenagers. And the Pro is the full-sized BMX which is made for teenagers and adults alike.
